Winter Lettuce

Kitties don't have calendars. We mark the days in treats, rubs, and sleeps. If one gets a couple of sleeps, a treat or three, and a good belly rub, then I guess you would call that a really good day. That's a hint, humanoids.

My human is pretty good about the rubs. I hang up getting a belly pat if I'm in the street. Miss Erin has taken to tricking me into the yard before the ear scratching begins. I get Ma, I'll be careful of the cars.

Sleeps are good these days. Miss Cindy brought me this cool kitty condo after my George moved on last summer. After Miss Erin added the heated kitty bed it swiftly became my man-cave. When it's cool out, there is no way I'm giving it up easily. And it's been really cold lately. We even got some of the white stuff the big uns call snow.

That brings me to treats. Um, I can't lie, folks. There are treats here but I'm sure they are quite healthy. I dream about white, powdered doughnuts and french fries--not gonna' happen. I lust after a tasty leftover. I swoon over the smell of bacon.

If I could peek in the kitchen I'm sure I would find Miss Erin filling my "treats" with organic stuff from the garden. She does it because she loves me; I just wish I could have a bite.

So my calendar is full before I even add the extras. Today, I helped Rick tend the garden that sends the organic veggies to the kitchen. The garden has lasted many sleeps this year. I'm told that is a very good thing. I don't know know much about lettuce. It's a pretty shade of green and I'm told it's not supposed to survive the snow. I'm glad it did--survive the snow, that is. It makes Miss Erin happy and that makes me happy.
So if the sun continues to rise and I can drag my groggy self from the man-cave, I'll be back to catch you up on life in the village.

New Year's Kisses from Lenny

Oh my, the goodies are everywhere. Yummo! Miss Cindy brought me the yummiest treat ever. Even the website is great. You just gotta check it out. http://www.pouncetreats.com/ Even you humanoids will get a kick out of the video. A bit like kitty love fest if I do say so myself.

It's been tuff to sneak in and get to the 'puter. That Miss Erin keeps a sharp watch and with it being the end of the year...well, she's on it non stop with a pile of papers in front of her. And then there is something called--Final exams? Whatever that is? Anyway it sure does get everyone all worked up.

The neighbors have been sliding me a few treats. I almost got caught with fry breath last week. The humanoids came home early. I'm sure they thought I had gone down in the sewer drain to play. Most times though, I've been keeping close and saying round the man cave. That heated bed is dreamy. The weather has been really cold. Even the house has been icy. I go in at night for a bit to drink from the fancy fountain and eat a bit of Grummy's food. Got to watch it though because Miss Erin will trap me and make me stay in. Not a chance!

Not sure what it is. I hear the big 'uns talking about the water. It tastes alright to me. I even like the big spray fountain they make out front to clean it. They put a big pipe in the road and turn it on. I just sit and watch it spray, and spray, and spray. Wow, what a show. Wonder when the next one is scheduled.

Well, it's a New Year. It's been a heck of a year and I'm glad to see most of it go. I'll miss some of it though. I'll miss George taking me for rides in the van and feeding me greasy french fries. I'll miss sneaking powdered doughnuts in the middle of the night--even if it did give George nightmares. Sorry about that George. I'll miss George's family; they are really nice people. The neighborhood has changed a bit.

I sure hope the man upstairs is taking good care of you, George. Don't worry about me. Miss Erin, Rick, and Denise are taking really good care of me. Send me a signal sometime.

Meow, for now.
